The holiday attractions at Lanier Islands are now open for the 2019 season. These include Magical Nights of Lights and License to Chill Snow Island.
Magical Nights of Lights will be on view through January 5, 2020. The lights are on from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m., every day.
License to Chill Snow Island will be offering folks a way to play in the snow through February 23, 2020.
Neither of these attractions is exactly cheap, but we have a few tips for getting the best value for your entertainment dollar.
Here’s the scoop on each — prices, hours, package deals, and discounts.

Magical Nights of Lights
The attraction is open through January 5th.
Your ticket to Magical Nights of Lights gets you into the seven-mile tour of holiday lights, which ends at Snow Island.
According to the Lanier Islands website, your pass also allows you to visit Snow Island’s carnival area, the fire pits, Santa, and more. BUT keep in mind you’ll have to buy activity tickets if you want to go ice skating or snow tubing, or ride the carnival rides. See the info on the Snow Island all-attraction pass, below.
The good news is, pricing is per vehicle and not per person. You’ll pay the same amount whether you have one person in your car or 10 — so get a group together and pack ’em in!
NOTE: Prices are higher for shuttles (defined as 11-20 passengers) and buses (21+ passengers). If you need that pricing info, you can find it here.
The best way to save significant money is by going before the holiday rush, when prices rise (or between Dec. 31st and Jan. 5th).
For vehicles with 1-10 passengers, regular price is $45 at the gate. You can save a dollar by buying in advance online — that price is $42, but there’s a $2 fee tacked on. Keep in mind that most of the discounts listed below are only valid at the gate.
However, prices go up by $10 during holiday peak days — which are December 20th through 30th.
Holiday pricing is $55 at the gate and $52 online (plus that fee).
Deal Alert: Upgrade to a season pass for $1
If you’d like to visit Magical Nights of Lights more than once, this deal is definitely the way to go.
The deal runs through December 14th
To redeem the $1 upgrade, just take your receipt for your entrance fee to the ticket booth at Snow Island (at the end of the light display). Hand over a buck, and you’ll get a season pass for Magical Nights of Lights. You’ll also receive vouchers for one free Parrot Mountain snow tube ride and one free hot chocolate with your upgrade.
The discounts for Magical Nights of Lights
There is not yet a Groupon deal for the holiday attractions at Lanier Islands. If we find one, we’ll post it here and send it out via our email newsletter.
- This coupon will triple any $5-off promotion, for a savings of $15. Valid through December 5th, at the gate only.
Note: It’s not clear whether this can be combined with Teacher Tuesdays, First Responder Fridays, etc. The details online seem to contradict each other. If you know the answer to this, please email firstname.lastname@example.org
- This $5 off coupon is valid on Saturdays and Sundays. You must print it and present it at the gate.
Here are a few other ways to save on Magical Nights of Lights:
Teacher Tuesdays — Present a valid teacher ID and save $5 on admission. Valid on Tuesdays, except for Christmas Eve.
Toys for Tots Tuesdays & Thursdays — Donate a new, unwrapped toy and save $5 on admission. Valid on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Nov. 26 thru Jan 1st. Not valid on Christmas Eve or Thanksgiving.

License to Chill Snow Island
The attraction is open through February 23rd — so you’ll have plenty of time to play in the snow.
The daily admission includes access all day to all Snow Island attractions, including carnival rides.
Note that the daily tickets do not include parking fees or access to Magical Nights of Lights. If you want to come after 5 p.m. when the lights are on display, you have to buy a ticket for the light show as well.
Again, you may save a buck or two by buying an adult ticket in advance online, although you’ll pay a ticketing fee. Children, senior, military, and all other tickets are the same price online or at the gate.

- Child (under 48″ tall) — $30
- Children 2 and younger — FREE
- Military (active or retired) — $30
