Want to celebrate 2020 with your entire family, without busting the kids’ bedtime routine?
Consider one of these December 31st afternoon or early events. Some mark the “new year” at 12 noon, while others use 8 p.m. for the countdown and festivities.
Don’t forget about holiday light displays for a New Year’s Eve activity — many of the neighborhood and private home displays close down after December 31st.
There’s also IHOP’s kids-eat-free deal that runs through New Year’s Eve. Hours are 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and you can get a free kids meal with every adult entree you purchase. Details here.

FREE: NYE Bash at The Battery with early fireworks for kids
This is actually two FREE events — an “early innings” event for families with young children, followed by the “late innings” festivities for everyone else.
The family-friendly early innings, for those wishing to ring in the New Year early, will start at 6 p.m. in the Plaza. The Heavy Hitters and BLOOPER will be on hand as well as David Girabaldi, a performance painter who transforms blank canvas in minutes. At 8 p.m., balloon baseballs will drop in celebration of the “New Year,” so the wee ones can ring in 2020 without pushing bedtime too far.
The late innings festivities start at 9 p.m. The 12South Band and David Girabaldi will provide the entertainment from the Georgia Power Pavilion Stage. The midnight countdown will include pyrotechnics and 2020 will begin with a confetti and aerial fireworks display.
