Several metro Atlanta area cities host open swim days for dogs, just before closing municipal pools for the season.
Each event has pretty specific rules, for health reasons. And they all have a small fee attached.
See the details below, to be sure you’re prepared to follow the guidelines for each specific event. We suggest always bringing proof of vaccination.

10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — but with 2 sessions per day (see below)
Fee: $10 per dog
Only two humans per dog are allowed, so you can’t bring the whole family.
You can sign up for multiple time slots, but each one costs $10.
Dog owners are allowed to wade into the pool up to their knees, and lifeguards will be present.
The time slots are divided up between small dogs and large dogs.
Saturday, Sept. 10:
• Large dogs 10 a.m-1 p.m
• Small dogs 1:30 p.m-4:30 p.m.
• Small dogs 10 a.m-1 p.m
• Large dogs 1:30 p.m-4:30 p.m.
All dogs must be up-to-date on required shots and vaccinations.
Payment may be made at pool with either cash or credit card.

Fee: $35 per dog with advance registration or $45 on site
$5 surcharge for each additional human guest
maximum 2 dogs per person
This event is a fundraiser, so it’s a bit more expensive than the others. In the past, the event includes dog vendor giveaways, music, and concessions.
Only dogs are allowed in the pool. You are responsible for cleaning up after your pup.
Please bring only healthy, vaccinated, licensed, and non-aggressive dogs.

Doggie Splash Pawlooza in Decatur – not happening in 2022
Midway Park Pool
Saturday, September 7th
9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Fee: $5 per dog
This event will serve as a fundraiser to benefit the Brookside and Mason Mill dog parks, according to county officials.
It features a doggy swim, raffle, pet product vendors, a raffle, and a dog swimsuit contest.
You’ll need to pre-register and pay online on the DeKalb parks website.
There are some rules:
- You’ll need a current rabies tag or certificate.
- You may not bring a female dog in heat or a puppy less than six months old.
- Your dog must arrive on a leash.
- You are responsible for supervising and cleaning up after your pup!
- People may not enter the pool with the dogs, for health reasons.
You can submit your photos for the swimsuit contest on social media until September 5 with the hashtag #DeKalbPawlooza19.

Wills Park Pool

1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Fee: $5 per dog
Close out the pool season! This event is broken into two time slots, for different size dogs.
1 to 2 p.m. — small Dogs (40lbs or less)
3 to 4 p.m. — big Dogs (41lbs or above)
Please make sure the dog you bring is able to swim, and to play nicely with other dogs.
Cash and cards are accepted at the gate.

Doraville has provided very few details on the 2021 event, other than a phone number to call for more info. In 2020, the fee was $5 per dog, and you had to sign a liability waver to attend.
