If you typically forget the whipped cream or cranberry sauce, or if you can’t resist a last minute run to the store, this list is for you!

As always, you’ll want to quickly check with the location nearest you, just to make sure it’s not the outlier that doesn’t participate in holiday hours.

If you need one simple item, you might try a convenience store, like the little markets attached to many QT gas stations. Otherwise, give one of  these a go. For your convenience, the links go to each chain’s store locator page.

Atlanta area grocery stores open on Thanksgiving in 2025

These are listed roughly in order of how common they are throughout Atlanta and suburbs.
They are not in alphabetic order.

Kroger

Most Kroger stores will be open on Thanksgiving Day, till 5 p.m. 
Individual stores may be closed or have further reduced hours so check online or call ahead. 

Fresh Market

The chain is open on Thanksgiving for holiday meal order pickups.
Last year, the chain set standard hours from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
We expect this to be the case again in 2025, but you can call your location to verify.

Whole Foods Market

Stores are open, but some will have modified hours for 2025.
The website lists the hours each store will be open for the holiday, but you still may want to call ahead to verify.
We clicked on 4 local stores to check their hours and each one had hours listed as 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. for Thanksgiving Day.

H-mart

This Korean chain prides itself on being open 365 days of the year!
Last year, hours were 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving, but could vary by location.
You’ll find stores in Doraville, Duluth, Johns Creek, Riverdale, and Suwanee.

Buford Highway Farmers Market

Last year, we shot them a note via social media and they said they were open regular hours, 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Thanksgiving.
We will update for 2025 if new info becomes available.

Instacart

Instacart delivery on holidays is limited by which stores are open.
From the national website:
Delivery through Instacart is open the day before Thanksgiving and on Thanksgiving Day, where available, matching most local retailer hours in the markets where Instacart operates. 

 Sprouts Farmer Market

According to the chain’s Holiday FAQ webpage, all locations are open 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving in 2025.
Make a mental note for yourself now that they are closed on Christmas Day.

Dollar General

This chain is open on Thanksgiving Day, but not on Christmas. 
Most stores will keep regular hours of 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. — but some might close earlier. 
Call ahead to make sure. 

Food Lion

Most stores will stay open till 3 p.m. 
Check online or call your store to verify. There are few locations left in Georgia.

Ingles

Most stores will be open, but closing early.
Call your preferred location before heading out.

Pic N Pay

In past years, two locations on the South side said they were maintaining their 24-hour schedule over the holiday.
