On Sunday, February 8, 2026, the Georgia History Festival is sponsoring Super Museum Sunday. It’s a day of FREE admission at participating museums plus all the state historic sites across Georgia.
There are over 100 participating museums and historic sites in Georgia — including many within an easy drive of metro Atlanta.

More FREE museum days in February
• The Carlos Museum hosts its Sunday FUNday event on February 1, 2026. This is a is a FREE drop-in program for all families and includes admission to the galleries. First come, first served, while supplies last. No registration is required.
• The Georgia Aquarium offers you FREE admission on your birthday — so all of you February babies are in luck!

• The High Museum of Art hosts its Second Sundays FREE day on February 8, 2026.

• The High Museum also hosts its FREE Access For All program on Wednesday, February 18, 2026 — you need to register in advance for this one.
• The Museums On Us program offers FREE admission to Bank of America cardholders at seven metro-area museums on February 7th and 8th. This includes the High Museum, Atlanta History Center, Tellus Science Museum, Booth Western Art Museum, and more.

♦ Black History Month
Black History Month, which takes place in February every year, is celebrated throughout the metro Atlanta area with festivals, storytelling, performances, parades, cultural events, pop-up markets and much more.
In 2026, there are so many FREE events and activities to take advantage of! In particular, there are quite a few free movie screenings, including Black Panther, Hidden Figures, and more titles that tell African American stories. The libraries are offering kids crafts and story hours.

The Chinese Lunar New Year is being celebrated between February 14th and March 1st in 2026 and it’s the Year of the Horse!

♦ National Frozen Yogurt Day
Celebrate International Frozen Yogurt Day in Atlanta! The date is Friday, February 6, 2026. And it’s a luscious reminder to get out and explore your city by trying a new yogurt shop, a new flavor, or new toppings.

The Academy Awards ceremony will be broadcast on March 15, 2026 — that means you can spend some time in February catching up on the Best Picture nominees and viewing the ones you haven’t seen yet.

The February weather is fickle in Atlanta, but there are usually plenty of days suitable for walking or hiking — just dress appropriately.
• Cobb County Trail of the Month program will meet as usual. Register in advance.
• Wednesday morning group walks at Mason Mill Park are lead by a guide. FREE and no reservation needed!
• Wild Walks take place in Tucker parks on 2nd and 4th Wednesdays, rotating between locations and time slots (evening or morning). FREE and no reservation needed.
• Walk & Talk is a monthly event at Woodlands Garden in Decatur, on third Wednesdays — which is February 18, 2026. Stroll thru the gardens and learn something new.
• The Enchanted Woodland Trail at Chattahoochee Nature Center is open all month long! Free with the price of admission.

The Snow Island winter fun park is open at Lanier Islands on weekends through February 22, 2026. You can play in the snow, tube down a huge snow hill, ice skate, and more.
