
Each year, local organizations and community groups sponsor Thanksgiving turkey and food giveaways, to make sure families facing food insecurity or financial hardship can gather together for a traditional meal.
We’re collecting as many of these turkey giveaways and food distribution events as we can find, and listing them here.
If you know of someone who might benefit from this information, please share it with them!
And if your group is hosting a food giveaway that you’d like to list here, please use our events submission form — you’ll see the link at the top of our home page.

Details: The city will distribute turkeys and food baskets on a first-come, first-served basis. Last year, they served 800 families. It’s unclear whether this event is only open to Stonecrest residents.

These 6 events are for Dekalb County residents only, and you may be asked for proof of residency. There are few details, but past Thanksgiving food distributions have included produce and chicken.

Dekalb County Mobile Pet Food Pantry

On the 4th Friday of each month, year round, Dekalb County hosts a mobile pet food pantry for county residents. This is a drive-thru event — you’ll stay in your car as volunteers direct you through the route. Note that cars often start lining up well before noon. There is free pet food available for dogs and cats.
