The High Museum of Art will host their fifth-annual Grandparents Day celebration on Sunday, September 14, 2025, on the Woodruff Arts Center’s campus.
Each year, Grandparents Day gives families a special opportunity to connect, play, and immerse themselves in the arts.
The event is a collaboration between the High Museum, Alliance Theatre, and Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
The High is open from noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays.
Admission is FREE, through the Second Sundays program.
Events and programs are spread throughout the Woodruff Arts Center Campus.

Drop-In Art Making and smARTbox distribution
This is an art-making activity inspired by the illustrations on view in the special exhibition “Faith Ringgold: Seeing Children.” Create mini books about your home and family in this art-making activity for all ages!
Noon to 4:30 p.m. (while supplies last)
Meet a Musician
Join Atlanta Symphony Orchestra musicians for a family-friendly 30-minute performance. Musicians will play a delightful mix of classical pieces and beloved children’s songs while introducing young listeners to their fascinating instruments.
Noon, 2:30 p.m., and 4:30 p.m.
Music for the Very Young Concert
Music meets storytelling in The Tortoise and the Hare, brought to life by actors and musicians from the Atlanta Symphony. This fun and interactive show invites kids ages 3-8 and their families to enjoy the classic tale of patience and perseverance.
12:30 to 1:15 p.m.
Instrument Exploration Station
Step into the world of music at the Instrument Exploration Station! This unique experience invites music lovers of all ages to get hands-on with instruments that bring symphonies to life. A curated collection of string instruments is perfect for all experience levels, from beginners to seasoned players.
12:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Write a Family Lullaby
Drop in to create and sing family lullabies with the help of musical theatre artists. Creating, singing, and sharing lullabies promotes overall family well-being by supporting caregiver and maternal health, early child development, and parent-child bonding.
1 to 3 p.m.
Tambor Party
Get ready to move! Following its electric debut at this year’s Juneteenth celebration, Tambor Party is back at the High Museum.This special activation features DJ Stan Zeff on the decks, master percussionist Frank Malloy on dundun drums, and Olori Speaks on the shekere, with JackieTan as the experience host guiding the energy and engagement.
1 to 4 p.m.
Musical Storytime
Join Ms. Curry for a delightful 30-minute session where stories come to life through the magic of live music! Children will sing, move, and use their imaginations as they explore tales brought to life by symphonic sounds and engaging narration.
1:30 to 2 p.m.
Rhythm & Thread
An Alliance Theatre Bernhardt Theatre for the Very Young Production: It’s moving day, and Cassie is helping her grandparents, Gigi and Pop Pop, sort through the attic. Among the dusty boxes, Cassie discovers a collection of Gigi’s quilts, each one a patchwork of stories and adventures waiting to be told. Rhythm & Thread celebrates family, imagination, and the beauty of storytelling through the art of quilting.
2:30 and 3:30 p.m.
“The Dancing Granny” African Dance Workshop
Shake it to the East and shake it to the West with local artist Mama YeYe. Featuring live drumming and percussion, this dance workshop will get every body moving.
4:30 p.m.
