Several metro area cities have partnered with Trees Atlanta to get FREE trees to homeowners who’d like more shade in their front yards. If you live in one of the areas listed below, you can sign up now for fall planting season.
Once you’ve chosen a tree variety and planting location, a staffer or volunteer from Trees Atlanta will come out to plant your tree after the planting season begins in October.
There are several varieties of canopy trees to choose from, and they vary by city. You can see your options here for whichever area you live in.
You are eligible if you are a resident of:
- Atlanta
- Brookhaven
- Chamblee
- Decatur
- Doraville
- Sandy Springs
- Unincorporated Dekalb County
Don’t know which kind of tree is best for you? Just contact Trees Atlanta for a free consultation.
Note that there is a $25 application fee for Chamblee residents.
You can submit your request for free trees easily online. The number of trees you’re eligible for depends on where you live. Make sure you carefully review the list of restrictions and your obligations, if you participate.
According to Trees Atlanta, there are many benefits to having a tree (or 2 or 3) in your front yard. The cooling shade can reduce your air conditioning bills, and can also help to mitigate winter weather.
