National Ugly Sweater Day is always the third Friday in December — which lands on Friday, Dec. 19th in 2025. 

This is a day to wear your favorite holiday-themed sweater. It’s a fun way to embrace humor, holiday spirit, and a dash of friendly competition. 
It doesn’t matter if you think it’s tacky, cute, festive, or whatever — just put it on and rock it the way you’d like. 

What started out as quirky holiday attire has morphed into a beloved tradition. 
From reindeer with blinking noses to tacky knits in neon colors, these sweaters are all about spreading laughter and cheer. 

So how do you actually celebrate National Ugly Sweater Day?
Here are some ideas:

• Host a sweater party at your home and invite friends to show off their outrageous designs.
• Have an ugly sweater contest at your office or workplace. 
• Attend a local Ugly Sweater contest, often held at venues like breweries, walking trails, and even pet stores.

Chipotle will host its spin on the occasion with Extra Sweater Day on Saturday, December 20, 2025 to give you an extra day to show off your festive or over-the-top sweater, whether store-bought, homemade, or thrifted. 

Just wear your festive or over-the-top sweater to a participating Chipotle location, and and score a BOGO offer — that’s buy one entree and get a second one FREE. 
There’s a limit of 5 free items per check.
Note that the offer is valid from 4 p.m. to closing.

Scooter’s Coffee

On Friday, December 19, 2025, Scooter’s Coffee is turning up the cozy vibes for National Ugly Sweater Day. Slip on your snuggliest sweater and head to any Scooter’s Coffee location for a limited-edition Ugly Sweater Sticker, because festive fun deserves commemorative flair. 

The early sippers get the sticker: A limited number of stickers are available at each location beginning at store opening on Friday, Dec. 19th.
No ugly sweater is required to get the sticker, but why not put on something festive anyway!
