Come out and celebrate spring at the 10th Annual Midtown Garden Stroll! The event takes place on Sunday, May 21, 2023 from noon to 5 p.m. It is completely FREE and open to the public.
This outdoor, self-guided tour is a rare opportunity to experience some of Midtown’s most beautiful private gardens. There will also be an outdoor Garden Stroll Market where you can purchase plants and garden-related merchandise, as well as food and drink.
The tour takes place throughout the historic Midtown Garden District — an area that is bounded by 10th Street, Ponce de Leon Avenue, Piedmont Avenue, and Lakeview Avenue.
The Garden District is characterized by early twentieth-century historic homes, mid-century apartment buildings, a compact street grid, and an extensive mature tree canopy. In 1999, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places.
At the Midtown Garden Stroll, you can expect to see both formal gardens and casual gardens, as well as fountains, espaliered plants, intricate brickwork. The tour organizers hope the public can walk away with inspiration and ideas for their own outdoor living spaces.
At some of the gardens, the homeowners may be on hand to share their gardening secrets and answer questions about their yard.

The Garden Stroll Market
At the Midtown Garden Stroll, you’ll also find an expanded Garden Stroll Market — featuring a variety of local plant and garden-related vendors, plus food and drink.
The Garden Stroll Market will be centrally located in front of homes on Penn Ave, between 6th Street and 7th Street. This area will also be the headquarters for the Midtown Garden Stroll on the day of the event.
How to attend
You don’t need a ticket or reservation! On May 21st, starting at noon, you can stop by the Garden Stroll market to pick up a free printed copy of the stroll map. You’ll also find that the participating homes are clearly marked.
One week before the event, you’ll be able to find a downloadable PDF map in a variety of places — via MidtownAtlanta.org, or on the Midtown Neighbors’ Association social media pages (Facebook and Instagram).
Getting There & Parking
If you don’t have to drive to this event, then don’t!
You’ll be competing with Piedmont Park and the BeltLine for paid parking spots AND for on-street parking. Consider walking, biking, riding a scooter, or using a rideshare service.
And of course, there’s MARTA.
Google Maps tells us it’s a mere 13-minute walk from the Midtown Station (and 7 minutes on a scooter from the station!) Midtown Station is on the Red Line. When you exit the train, just head to street level and set your GPS walking directions for 835 Penn Ave., which is an address in the middle of the block between 6th and 7th Streets.
We always recommend downloading the MARTA app for your mobile phone to find train schedules.
