Downtown Duluth is the place to be on Friday, June 5, 2026!
This is the rain date, for the event that was supposed to happen in May.
Come early to make your own lantern and enjoy live entertainment on the Town Green — and then take part in the magical Lantern Parade for a colorful procession through downtown Duluth.
The events are FREE to attend.
The lantern-making workshop features free materials and instruction, while supplies last — so we suggest arriving early!
You can also bring your own lanterns, either purchased or made at home.
This year’s parade theme is Ocean Glow—a dazzling celebration of light and color.

2026 Lantern Parade schedule of events
Activities (5–9 PM)
Enjoy live music, giant bubbles, face painting, and themed characters throughout Downtown Duluth.
Make Your Lantern (6-8 PM or while supplies last)
Stop by the Town Green tent between to create your own lantern for the parade. Materials and guidance will be provided—perfect for all ages!
Art Show (6-8 PM)
Be sure to visit Parsons Alley where the Duluth Fine Arts League Art Walk will transform Parsons Alley into a lively open-air gallery with local artists, live art demos, music, and unique treasures. It’s a vibrant celebration of creativity, community, and downtown Duluth.
Parade
Gather at the fountain at 9:00 PM to begin the glowing procession through Downtown Duluth. Along the way, enjoy live music, giant bubbles, face painting, and visits from themed characters.
