big river theatre in the square goldstarIt’s back: Theatre in the Square has returned to Marietta.

And heading out to one of the performances during the 2016 premiere season is on my to-do list. This one looks like a good option for the family:

From June 30-July 10, 2016, Big River: The Musical will be at Theatre in the Square. Here’s the quick summary: “Nonstop action and adventure, tap-your-toes bluegrass-tinged tunes, and Mark Twain’s ingenious, whip smart commentary on racism and slavery make the American classic Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn more timely than ever. Based on Twain’s brilliant, often satirical, 1884 novel Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, the musical tells the story of sweet-hearted, prone-to-trouble vagabond Huck and Jim, the slave he helps escape. Set in the antebellum South, the critically acclaimed Big River: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn features catchy, country and blues songs like ‘Do You Wanna Go to Heaven,’ ‘Muddy Water,’ and ‘Waitin’ for the Light to Shine’ and scooped up an armful of Tony Awards.”

Tickets to Big River: The Musical are regularly $45+fees for VIP seats, $35+fees for center seating, $30+fees for seniors & military with ID, & $25+fees for children.
