Decatur is doing it up BIG for their monumental 200th birthday! The weekend of December 9th and 10th will be full of bicentennial celebrations.
You’ll find live music, delicious food, games, face painting, stilt walkers, and more.
Plus, hear some of the 200 Stories the city has collected to preserve and document the history of our community.
You’ll want to be there on Saturday to end the night with a dazzling display of fireworks.
The bicentennial parade will be held on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
The parade will line up at 2 p.m. at the Decatur Post Office, stepping off at 3 p.m.
It steps off at 3 p.m. and heads to the Square.
The parade route is about one mile long, along West Ponce de Leon Ave.
It turn right onto Church Street, turn right onto West Trinity Place, and end at North McDonough Street, according to the city’s website.
After the parade, there will be family-friendly bicentennial activities on the Square.

Saturday, December 9
-Bicentennial Celebration 1 mile race, 9 a.m.
-Bicentennial Celebration Parade, 3 p.m.
-Bicentennial Celebration Birthday Party, 4 p.m.
-Bicentennial Celebration Fireworks, after dark around 6 p.m.
Sunday, December 10
-Bicentennial History Tour, 12:30 p.m. The hour-long walking tour will focus on the downtown area, which is the oldest part of the city.
