Updated for 2020!
Independence Day 2020 in the City of Woodstock this year will be a bit different. The celebration is being altered to comply with CDC guidelines and state restrictions.
The Freedom Run has been postponed until Fall 2020. A new date for the run will be announced in the near future.
The July 4th Spectacular Parade and Festival will NOT take place this year.
However, the fireworks display in the area of Woodstock Square will continue as planned.
City manager Jeff Moon issued this statement:
“We consulted with elected officials, state officials and staff and determined that there is no good way to stage Woodstock’s annual parade and festival this year with current restrictions in effect. We are proceeding with the fireworks show as regularly scheduled, given that the layout of the area that is utilized for viewing the show easily allows for social distancing. We strongly encourage those who gather in the area of Woodstock Square for the show to be responsible and follow CDC guidelines.”
Fireworks will take place at dusk.
Traffic plans will be shared on the City’s social media in coming weeks.

The July 4th Spectacular is Woodstock’s all day patriotic tribute to Independence Day, lasting from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. In case it isn’t clear from the event’s name, it takes place on July 4, 2019 — and includes a parade, summer festival, live music, and fireworks. The day starts with a parade! It begins at 10 a.m. on Woodstock Elementary School on Rope Mill Road, travels down Main Street, and ends at Sam’s Club near Hwy 92. The parade will go on rain or Shine, unless the weather becomes dangerous. Note that there will be road closures in the area. The Summer Festival takes place on July 4th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at The Park at City Center (located in downtown Woodstock, at 101 Arnold Mill Rd.) It features food, arts and crafts vendors, kids’ activities, and live music by the band A Theory of Now. “Frolic on the Fourth” takes place on the Northside Hospital-Cherokee Amphitheater Stage, and showcases performances by local dance and martial arts studios. Fireworks will begin at dusk. They’ll take place in the Target Shopping Center on Hwy 92, near I-575.
