Alpharetta’s “Celebrate Your Independence” event takes place on Thursday, July 4th, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The festivities are happening in Wills Park (11925 Wills Road, in Alpharetta). Food, fun, and entertainment will be spread throughout the park.
Food trucks and other vendors will serve food from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Favorite local eateries include Patty Wagon, Gyro Chef, and Food for Da Soul.
Other vendors will offer a wide variety of bites including ribs, barbecue, pizza, hotdogs, frozen treats, and more.
Most food vendors accept credit, but several are cash only.
The Alpharetta City Band will perform patriotic tunes starting at 6:00 p.m., with more live entertainment throughout the night.
Fireworks begin at approximately 9 p.m. The fireworks show is a rain or shine event.
Know before you go…
Bring a blanket or lawn chairs. You can have a tent or pop-up canopy during your picnic time, but you must take it down at sunset (which is at 8:51 p.m. on the Fourth) so you’re not blocking anyone’s view of the fireworks.
You may also want to bring a flashlight, bug spray, and bottled water
Alcohol and tobacco are prohibited in the park, per city ordinance.
Grilling will be a hassle — charcoal is prohibited, and propane grills require a permit from city hall.
Personal fireworks are prohibited — and this includes sparklers.
Pets are discouraged because of the noise, but if you bring a dog, s/he must be leashed at all times.
Parking is available in the area of Wills Park at:
- The Alpharetta Community Center
- Wills Park Recreation Center
- Wills Park near the Wacky World Playground
Note that the city will close Wills Road when the lots at Wills Park are full — so get there early!
