This Saturday, November 2, 2019, the city of Roswell will hold it’s first Dia de Los Muertos Festival and Parade. It is FREE to attend.
The celebration pays homage to the traditional Mexican holiday, which translates as “Day of the Dead” and honors those who have passed away.
Festival hours are 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. The event takes place on the grounds of Roswell City Hall, located at 38 Hill Street.
You can expect vibrant entertainment from a live mariachi band, street performers, a Mexican ballet troupe, and more. Food vendors will serve authentic Mexican cuisine. Complimentary face-painting in the trademark style will be available on-site to help you complete your look.
At dusk, you can participate in a lantern parade down Canton Street in downtown Roswell. Bring your own lantern, or purchase a lantern kit at the festival. The kits available range from $5 to $25 in price.
Want to upgrade your experience? A Tequila Tasting Experience is available for those who are 21 or over. The $45 ticket lets you sample tequila shots and cocktails, as well as tequila-inspired meals. You’ll get a souvenir cup, nine tasting tokens, and a raffle entry. Buy tickets online through Fresthtix (a $3.74 fee is added to the price).
