The iconic Atlanta Quilt Festival opens on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at the Southwest Arts Center and runs through September 5th.
It’s now in its 18th year, and it just keeps getting bigger and better.
The quilt and textile art exhibit is completely FREE and open to the public, and it’s well worth the drive. There is so much beauty and history on display.
The Atlanta Quilt Festival is dedicated to preserving and promotion African American quilting and other textile arts. The heart of the festival is the juried exhibit, which has grown to over 100 quilts on display.
You’ll have a chance to view the work of professional textile artists, as well as work by beginners who are showcasing their art for the first time.
Genres range from traditional art to modern art.
And if you’d like to learn more about the fiber arts, you can sign up for one of the classes, lectures, or trunk shows that are offered for a fee. Classes include quilting, paper piecing, hand applique, silk painting, patchwork, and more.

The quilt exhibit
The juried quilt exhibit runs from August 1 to September 5, 2026.
In general, the exhibition hall is open to the public from Tuesday thru Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
It’s usually closed on Sundays and Mondays, except for receptions and other special events.

The opening reception
The Opening Reception for the Atlanta Quilt Festival will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2026 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
It is FREE and open to the public.
At the reception, you can view the quilts on display, enjoy light refreshments, shop with local vendors, and meet some of the fiber artists that are exhibiting.
