In case you didn’t know, there’s a Waffle House Museum here in the Atlanta metro area! The museum is the site of the very first Waffle House restaurant, which opened in 1955 in Avondale Estates.
The Waffle House Museum is well-preserved, but it’s not open to the public on a daily basis.
So we feel like it’s big news that the museum is celebrating National Waffle Day with a FREE open house event. You can take a free tour and taste free waffle samples.
The event takes place on Saturday, August 24, 2019 from noon till 3:00 p.m.
About the venue
The Waffle House Museum is the site of the very first Waffle House restaurant.
It opened back in 1955 after two neighbors, Joe Rogers, Sr. and Tom Forkner, decided Avondale Estates needed a 24-hour restaurant.
Today, the chain they started has 1700 restaurants in 25 states.
The museum has been restored to feel as though you are stepping back into 1955. In addition to the vintage restaurant counter, the museum features Waffle House memorabilia from the past 60 years.
The Waffle House Museum is located at:
- 2719 East College Avenue
Avondale Estates, Georgia 30030
