In case you didn’t know, there’s a Waffle House Museum here in the Atlanta metro area! The museum is the site of the very first Waffle House restaurant, which opened in 1955 in Avondale Estates.
The Waffle House Museum is well-preserved, but it’s not open to the public on a daily basis even in good times — and has not been open at all since 2022!
So we feel like it’s big news that the museum is hosting a FREE open house event. You can take a FREE tour, eat FREE waffles from the Waffle House Food Truck, and enjoy a waffle decorating station.
The event takes place on Saturday, December 6th, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
The Waffle House Museum is located at:
2719 East College Avenue
Avondale Estates, Georgia 30030
You can read more about it and see pictures just below!

About the venue
The Waffle House Museum is the site of the very first Waffle House restaurant.
It opened back in 1955 after two neighbors, Joe Rogers, Sr. and Tom Forkner, decided Avondale Estates needed a 24-hour restaurant.
Today, the chain they started has 1700 restaurants in 25 states.
The museum has been restored to feel as though you are stepping back into 1955. In addition to the vintage restaurant counter, the museum features Waffle House memorabilia from the past 60 years.

The Waffle House Museum houses memorabilia from the past six decades.
