Teacher Appreciation Week Day is Tuesday, May 2, 2023. However, there’s also a Teacher Appreciniation Week, which is observed from May 8th to 12th in 2023.

It’s typical for retailers and restaurants to offer special deals and freebies to educators during this time. We compile a list each year and invite you to click thru the links for details.

Note that some of these teacher discounts are valid all year round, while others are for one day or one week only.

And remember, participation can vary by location with chains and franchises. It’s always good to verify the deal is on before you head out to dine or shop.

2023 Teacher Appreciation Deals

The list is mostly in alphabetical order. 

Apple

Apple offers Apple education pricing on a new Mac or iPad to teachers, school staff, and homeschool teachers of all grade levels — also to college students and their parents. Prices vary, but amount to roughly 10% OFF. If you shop at an Apple store, make sure to ask about this discount!

Cheap Caribbean

The travel site Cheap Caribbean offers an exclusive Hero Discount for teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, and members of the military. Teachers can enjoy $150 off their next vacation package with a special promo code. (The discount is valid on package bookings of 5 or more nights.) This deal isn’t limited just to Teacher Appreciation Week, so bookmark the site if you think you might use the deal later.)

Cole Haan

Teachers and students can get 20% OFF online at Cole Haan. Just register with a valid school e-mail address. The retailer sells shoes, handbags, and leather accessories.

Eyemart Express

National optical retailer Eyemart Express is recognizing all teachers with 20% off on all prescription eyewear, along with 2,000 frames, lens upgrades and accessories. The offer is also extended to school administrators and school district employees, including janitors, counselors, and bus drivers. Simply present a valid school ID badge to take advantage of these savings. Eyemart Express offers this discount all year.

Firehouse Subs

From May 8 to 12, teachers throughout the U.S. can enjoy a FREE medium sub with the purchase of an additional medium (or large) sub, chips and drink at participating locations. Any medium sub is eligible, including the sub shop’s limited time Smokin’ Triple Stack sub.  

The offer is only valid in-shop — not online or for delivery. Teachers must show a school ID or other proof of employment at the register to redeem. Limit one per customer. 

Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers

In previous years, Freddy’s has offered a free frozen treat to teachers. We don’t yet have a 2023 offer.

Insomnia Cookies

All week long, from May 5 thru May 12th, teachers and school staff (PLUS nurses!) can get a FREE 6-pack of classic cookies with any $5 in-store purchase. You’ll just need a work ID.

The offer is open to all educators, staff members employed by a school or daycare, and anyone with “nurse” in their job title.
The offer was announced on the Insomnia Facebook page. Note that some locations may not be participating.

Lenovo Computers

Teachers and college students can get up to an extra 10% OFF on Lenovo products, via the website.  Click thru for the fine print.

McAlister’s Deli

Teachers who show an educator ID at participating McAlister’s Deli locations from May 3 to 10, 2023, will receive a free 32 oz tea. You must order in person, and the offer is good for dine-in and takeout orders only. The same deal is available to nurses, for Nurses Appreciation Week, with valid ID.

Michaels

Teachers get a 15% discount at Michaels online and in-store. Bring an educator ID to shop in person, or verify your educator status through the Rewards Program. The discount is even valid on most sale items.

Samsung

Teachers and educators can save up to 30% off on laptops, tablets, smartphones, and more when shopping on Samsung.com, thru the Samsung Education Offers Program. 

Sonic Drive-In

From May 9 to 16, every teacher, faculty or staff at a K-12 or degree-granting university in America can enjoy a FREE cheeseburger with any purchase at participating locations. The offer is valid for one-time use. 

To get the offer, qualifying customers must enroll in the Sonic Teachers’ Circle — a rewards program exclusively available for educators through the Sonic app. Look for “I’m a teacher” under the Account Settings on the app for registration.

Subway

This offer seems like a lot of work to us, but we’re including it anyway.  From May 8 to 12, 2023, teachers and nurses can log into SubwayServes.com to request a free footlong sub. The platform opens each day at 9 a.m. Only the first 2000 people to log in each day will receive the e-gift card for a free sub.

Zaxby’s

On May 2nd, 2023, Zaxby’s has a deal that lines up with Nurses Appreciation Week and Teachers Appreciation Week, but it’s also available to the general public. Buy one Boneless Wings Meal and get one FREE.
