
On Monday, January 19, 2026, the city of Sandy Springs will host a family-oriented MLK Day celebration, from 1 to 4 p.m.
It is FREE to attend, and takes place at the City Springs complex.
The event features two screenings of a children’s educational film, plus activity stations.
The schedule of activities is just below.
In addition, CityBar & Cafe will offer a kid-friendly menu, with items for purchase including chicken tenders, mac & cheese, and more, along with an assortment of snacks and beverages.

Film screenings
Our Friend, Martin is an animated movie about Dr. King and the Civil Rights movement.
It tells the story of two friends who travel through time to meet up with Dr. King at various points in his life.
This Emmy-nominated film will be shown twice: at 1:15 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
Activity stations
The stations are organized by various themes that relate to the life of Dr. King.
DREAM
Listen to King’s I Have a Dream speech and create a Dream Cloud craft.
JUSTICE
Decorate a bookmark with a quote from Dr. King.
LOVE
Use crayons to trace hands, identifying the similarities we all share.
LIBERTY
Complete a word search puzzle and learn about terms like civil rights, segregation, and equality.
EQUALITY
This is a live story hour, featuring picture books about Dr. King.
COMMUNITY
Help to create a mural.
