Easter 2020 is going to be a bit different this year. With no public events or large gatherings allowed, you’ll have to find other ways to make Easter fun and meaningful, especially if you have kids at home.
Some Easter egg hunts and bunny visits are being transitioned to virtual events. This means we can include events from all over, not just from Atlanta. We’ll try to stick with events in the Eastern time zone, to make planning easier.
We’re listing virtual events you may be interested in, as well as options for food, crafts, and more.
Virtual Easter egg hunts & Easter bunny visits
These free events all happen online. We expect more virtual events to be announced in the upcoming days, and we’ll add as many as possible. You can also find more on your own — just check the Facebook Events listing here.

Plan a neighborhood Easter egg hunt
The NY Times recently reported that many neighborhoods are setting up teddy bear hunts, where neighbors put teddy bears in the window or yard, and families walk around trying to spot them.
Why not do the same with Easter eggs? You can organize a neighborhood event via Next Door or email chain. Hang up colorful photos of Easter eggs in the window, hang plastic eggs from a tree in your yard, or place large Easter decorations in the yard.
You can find plenty of Easter-themed coloring pages online. There are two kinds: Print to color by hand, and color online by pointing and clicking before you print. Just google with keywords “Easter coloring pages” and see what you can find.
Send e-cards and customized videos
There are a lot of FREE e-card services these days, but for creativity, Jib Jab is the clear front-runner. This service lets you customize a quirky animated video with your family’s faces — just upload photos and the website does the rest. We’ve embedded an example below. This one is Chicken Dance. You’ll find plenty of other options as well.

Don’t forget the chocolate!
If you’re still making trips to the grocery and it’s safe for you to do so, you can probably pick up Easter chocolate there. And if you’re avoiding stores, here are a few other options.
Want to support a local business? JARDI Chocolates in Chamblee is offering curbside pickup as well as shipping options. Shop the online store or check out the Groupon deal.
Ghirardelli is offering 20% off Easter chocolate, with free shipping on orders of $50.
These chocolate deals are running on Groupon:
♦ Half-off chocolate and Easter baskets from Simply Chocolate
♦ Half-off boxed chocolate truffles from Harry & David
And last but not least, Amazon is offering Easter candy at grocery store prices.
Traditional meals
Some people are having a hard time getting groceries delivered, due to the delivery services being overloaded and store shelves being empty.
You can check out our comparison of grocery delivery services, but you should start soon. We’ve heard of people not being able to get a delivery slot for 5 days or more.
A better bet might be to order your main course from Farmers & Fishermen Purveyors, a restaurant supplier that has shifted to home delivery of meat and seafood during the pandemic. In most cases, you’ll get next day delivery. The company has just added grocery items for Easter and Passover, including hams, leg of lamb, brisket, and more.
You can read more about it here.
