This is on my short list of shows to see in 2016. If you’re not familiar with the work, here’s the quick summary: “Hailed by The New York Times as ‘the best musical of this century’ and the winner of nine Tony Awards, The Book of Mormon is the blockbuster Broadway smash from South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, and the Oscar-winning composer of Disney’s Frozen and Avenue Q, Bobby Lopez. This outrageous musical comedy follows the misadventures of a mismatched pair of missionaries sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word. Now, with standing room-only productions in London, on Broadway and across North America, The Book of Mormon has truly become an international sensation.”
FYI–If irreverent themes & explicit language bother you, you’d be best served by skipping The Book of Mormon.
Want to see it on the cheap? You can save:
- While they last, you can get discount tickets to select performances of The Book of Mormon, thanks to an offer on Goldstar. While it may not look like a discount, you’re essentially saving the Fox’s ticketing fees, which add up quickly. As of today (January 11), Goldstar has tickets to the 7:30 p.m. performances on January 12 & 13, 2016.
- A limited number of seats for The Book of Mormon will be reserved for a ticket lottery. Each day, you can stop by the Fox Theatre box office 2 & 1/2 hours prior to show time to enter your name in the lottery at The Fox; limit one entry per person. Thirty minutes later, names will be drawn, and the tickets will be sold for $25 each (FYI–It’s typically cash only, so go prepared). The lottery is available in-person only at the box office (photo ID required), and each winner may purchase a maximum of two tickets.
