[exp] [/exp]Actor’s Express’s Les Liaisons Dangereuses will be at the King Plow Arts Center through October 5, 2014. Based on the description of the work by the New York Post, I’m intrigued: Les Liaisons Dangereuses is “Vice and depravity wrapped up like a box of bonbons.”
If you’re not familiar with the work, here’s the quick summary: “A slow burn of carnal scheming, Les Liaisons Dangereuses provides a voyeuristic peek into the elite world of two rivals and ex-lovers who use sex as a weapon to humiliate and degrade others. Set in pre-revolution France, the daring drama follows Marquise de Merteuil and her former flame, the Vicomte de Valmont, as they wantonly seduce, corrupt and trample the hearts of those around them in a dangerous game of sexual conquest. This amoral tale of intrigue, lust and deception was adapted to an Oscar-winning film in 1988, Dangerous Liaisons, and now comes to the stage in an Actor’s Express production featuring bold avant-garde costumes by the designer behind the company’s recent production of The Rocky Horror Show.”
