[exp] [/exp]Part bike tour, part block party, Atlanta Streets Alive will take place in Atlanta’s Historic West End on Sunday.
From 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. on April 17, 2016, parts of the Historic West End will be car-free. During Atlanta Streets Alive, you can walk, bike, & play in the street. For 2016, the Historic West End route connects seven Atlanta neighborhoods via Ralph David Abernathy Blvd and Georgia Ave–Westview, West End, Adair Park, Pittsburgh, Mechanicsville, Summerhill, and Grant Park.
Atlanta Streets Alive offers miles of “human-powered amusement.” And with 50+ activities there’ll be plenty to do, including listen to music by a cappella groups & bands, check out a Public Art Bike Tour, play bike polo, get creative with at the pop-up chalk festival, burn off energy with kids games & zumba classes, & more.
The event kicks off at 2:00 p.m. with the Great Bicycle Parade. Bicyclists of all ages are welcome to participate. If you plan to decorate yourself or your bike & join in the fun, meet at the intersection of Georgia Avenue and Cherokee Avenue at 1:30 p.m. Need a costume idea? Since the parade starts near Zoo Atlanta then heads west along Georgia Avenue, you can dress up as your favorite animal.
