The Velveteen Rabbit will be at Serenbe Playhouse through July 27, 2013. If you’re not familiar with the work, here’s the quick summary: “There once was a Velveteen Rabbit, splendid and new. Travel to a time when toys were sewn with stitches and before modern technologies became all the rage in this original adaptation of the Margery Williams’ classic. Serenbe Playhouse’s The Velveteen Rabbit will remind children of all ages that being real isn’t how you are made, but a feeling that can change you forever.”
Even better: Robyn Rebecca Young, Creator of Concept for The Velveteen Rabbit, describes the play this way: “In creating the concept, I imagined The Velveteen Rabbit had it been written by Edgar Allan Poe and then made into a children’s film by Tim Burton, taking the heart of the original, but adding in a unique Southern Gothic flare.”
