After the chaos of the last week, something like relaxing at Summerfest is exactly what I need….
On June 4 & 5, head to Virginia-Highland for Summerfest 2016. As usual, there’ll be a Kidsfest & Artist Market. But quite a few people (including me) head to Summerfest for the music.
Here’s the lineup:
Saturday, June 4
- Noon: Frank Hamilton School
On September 17 & 18, 2016, head to Infinite Energy Center for JapanFest.
During the two-day festival, you can see traditional & modern dance performances, listen to taiko drumming, watch martial arts demonstrations, & more. Plus, you can check out intricate embroidery on kimonos, Japanese kites, bonsai trees, Japanese toys, Japanese cuisine, a marketplace, & more.

After work on every Wednesday from June through September, you can skip the gridlock and hang out at Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta to listen to Wednesday WindDown concerts.
From 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. each week, there’ll be live music at the Southern Company Amphitheater. Here’s the lineup for the 2016 season:
- June 1: Tulani, Klymaxx, Angie Stone
- June 8: Purple Rain-
The 2016 season of Movies in Central Park at Atlantic Station looks awesome.
If you’re not familiar with it, you can grab a blanket or a lawn chair, pack a picnic, & hang out in Central Park to watch a free flick on Thursday evenings all summer long.

Improv in the Park‘s 2016 season got underway in April. On the first Wednesday of each month through September, you can pack a picnic, grab a blanket, & head to Atlantic Station’s Central Park for a free improv comedy show featuring Whole World Improv.
