In February, Oakland Cemetery offer free guided walking tours to celebrate Black History Month. The tours cover the African-American grounds as well as other notable individuals at Oakland Cemetery, including Carrie Steele Logan, founder of the first orphanage for African American children in Georgia; William Finch, one of Atlanta’s first African American city councilmen; Bishop Wesley Gaines, early pastor of Big Bethel A.M.E. Church and founder of Morris Brown College; and Maynard Jackson, Atlanta’s first African-American mayor.

Want to go? You have one more chance to go on a free tour this month. The free tour of Oakland Cemetery will take place on Wednesday, February 27, at 2:00 p.m.
