I plan to head out to see Sketchworks’ new show, Show Me Your Skits, in the coming weeks. It’s a fun theme, and Sketchworks’ shows typically include sketches that make me laugh so hard I can’t breathe.
Per the summary: “Show Me Your Skits! We’ll show you ours if you show us yours. Sketchworks celebrates the irresponsible debauchery that is Mardis Gras with its all new main stage show. Sketchworks is already the most unique live comedy experience in Atlanta. It’s not improv, it’s not a play, it’s not standup. You have to see us to understand us, and we want to show you everything we’ve got (*wink wink*).”
If you’ve never seen a live sketch comedy show, here’s what you need to know: Essentially, it’s scripted & rehearsed comedy, not improv, much like the sketches on SNL. Some of the sketches are performed live, others are short movie clips, and each one is about 3-5 minutes long. As with all comedy, if you’re easily offended, this is not the place for you, as very few topics are off limits.
