I’m a member of the Atlanta Botanical Garden, but were I not, I’d take advantage of this deal:
From February 9-April 14, 2013, the 11th Anniversary Orchid Daze: Hanging Gardens event will take place at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Orchid Daze remains one of my favorite things to see at the ABG. The Fuqua Orchid Center is home to one of the largest collections of species orchids in the U.S., and during Orchid Daze, you’ll see a gorgeous mix of orchids.
Per the summary: “Fanciful blooms caper through scenes worthy of a surrealist’s imagination in Orchid Daze: Surreal Beauty at the Atlanta Botanical Garden. Artists Salvador Dali, Jean Arp, and Rene Magritte are among the inspirations and unbalanced muses for a spectacular series of vignettes in the Fuqua Conservatory and Orchid Center. Visitors will find themselves immersed in surprising juxtapositions of flowers and objects intended to stimulate their subconscious and alter their perspectives on reality.”
“Orchids are such intriguingly odd flowers until we want to celebrate their whimsical and playful personalities,” said Mary Pat Matheson, the Garden’s executive director. “Hopefully, visitors will revel in new perceptions of these fantastic plants. What better way to showcase orchids than through the lens of Surrealism?”
