I missed this the first time around, but I’m going to make it out to see it now that the Horizon Theatre is reviving The Waffle Palace. And the revised script appears to be a hit–the show was only open a week before the Horizon Theatre announced that they’re extending the run through March 17, 2013.
If you’re not familiar with the work, here’s the summary: “From births to marriages, to police chases and lottery wins, anything can happen at 3 AM in the Waffle Palace. Inspired by amazing real life events at Waffle House restaurants, Larson and Lee let loose with this roller coaster of humor and imagination in which John Pickett and his staff battle to keep their Midtown diner open against heavy odds. The Waffle Palace: a place where everyone is welcome, and the only unforgivable sins are throwing waffles and under-tipping.”
Want to see it on the cheap?
- For a limited time, $25 buys you one ticket to The Waffle Palace (in the Scoutmob Experience section), one waffle doughnut from Sublime Doughnuts, and one Waffle Palace hat, thanks to a deal on Scoutmob. The deal is available for select performances through February 7, 2013.
- If you can make it out on a weeknight or for a weekend matinee, you’ll save a bit, too: Tickets to Waffle Palace are regularly $20 on Wednesdays & Thursdays; $25 for Saturday matinees, and $30 for Friday, Saturday, & Sunday evening performances.
- And you’ll find discount tickets for most performances of The Waffle Palace on AtlanTIX. As of today (January 22), AtlanTIX has discount tickets for performances through February 10, 2013, but I suspect they’ll add more soon for the rest of the February & March show times.
- For Valentine’s Day, Horizon will offer a special VIP package for the 8:00 p.m. performance on Thursday, February 14, 2013. The Waffles 4 Two package is $80 and includes two reserved seats, two drink vouchers, two doughnuts from Sublime Doughnuts, and a Valentine’s Day photo op. Call 404-584-7450 to purchase.
- And you can use code “MUSEUM” to save $5 on tickets to select performances through February 17, 2013. Call 404-584-7450 to get the deal.
The Horizon Theatre is located at 1083 Austin Ave NE, Atlanta.
