It’s been years since I’ve seen Flashdance, the movie, but based on what I recall, I have no doubt that Flashdance: The Musical will make for a fun night at the theatre (though not appropriate for young kids).
If you’re not familiar with the work, here’s the summary: “Flashdance tells the unforgettable story of Alex Owens, a working-class girl from Pittsburgh striving to make her dreams of becoming a professional dancer a reality. She works by day at a steel mill, where she catches the eye of her boss Nick Hurley. By night she works as a “flashdancer” at a local bar, but longs to become a student at the prestigious Shipley Dance Academy.” Flashdance: The Musical features a score including the hit songs from the movie, including “Flashdance – What a Feeling,” “Maniac,” “Gloria,” “Manhunt,” “I Love Rock & Roll,” plus 16 original songs written for the stage.
