We saw Cirque du Soleil’s Totem earlier this month. I’ve seen several productions, and the performances never cease to amaze me–the gorgeous costuming and choreography make each show feel like a work of art, and I remain in awe of the complex circus arts the performers manage pull off night after night.
Totem’s narrative arc & circus arts were different than I’m used to, but it was still an enjoyable show. The downsides: My favorites–contortionists & high-wall trampoline artists–were not part of the mix, and I prefer the costuming & arc of shows like Ovo. That said, the show included amazing stunts. Our favorites: Unicyclists that flipped bowls with their feet while cycling & caught them on their heads, the tricks performed on the balance-beam style trampolines, and the juggler (both for the creative use of light & the complexity of the juggling). And the clowns kept my daughter giggling, which is always fun to hear.

Went last night and loved it.
Tips – you’ll have a good time in any seats except the last two seats on the aisle closest to back stage, partial blocked for some higher stuff. Being just a tent, I was shocked at how much higher people paid for similar seats. I was glad that it was the early in the week too, worth staying out til midnight on a week night to avoid the crowds.
You have to walk a few minutes from the parking or Atlantic Station to the tents and it gets cold. After the show it’s really cold since A) you’ve been in the tent B) you can’t hurry since everyone is walking the same path
I recommend layering heavy and bringing no jacket OR bring a light blanket. Even though it’s in a tent, it’s still a little cold. I had to keep my jacket on for the second half of the show.
30 minute intermission about 90 minutes in, but the bathroom lines are really long. Be ready for the intermission and already know where they are.
I thought the show would be great for all ages and genders. I only saw about 4 people under 18 though in the crowd, but it was a week night.
They sell popcorn and alcohol, but I drank a couple of beers after arriving at Atlantic Station and that was perfect.
Dillards in the upstairs of Atlantic Station has no business, so it’s great if you want to shop before the show or use the indoor bathroom.
Can’t wait to go back!!!
