If you’re a Groupon fan, you’ll love this deal: If you buy two separate deals before midnight on January 3, 2010, you’ll receive a bonus: a free $10 Groupon credit to spend on a future deal. And as you know, that $10 can go a long way. I’ve bought everything from $25 restaurant certificates to two hours of unlimited bowling for $10 per Groupon. The Groupon credit should post to your account on January 5, 2010.
Not familiar with Groupon? I like the concept: Each day, Groupon a new deal available to Groupies in cities across the country. For the most part, the deals have a local feel, but national chains participate, too, so you may find the same deal available in several or all of the cities. You’ll find Groupons for restaurants, health & beauty treatments, entertainment venues, & more. On Fridays, you have extra time to take advantage of the deal: Most of those deals are available through Sunday at midnight.
Though you’re essentially buying coupons at a discount, they’re called Groupons because a minimum number of people need to buy them in order for everyone to get the deal. If the deal doesn’t “tip,” then you don’t get the deal; your credit card won’t be charged. Once the deal tips & you’ve officially bought the deal, you can manage your Groupons online & print them out when you’re ready to redeem them.
Oh, and there’s often a side deal, so if the main deal doesn’t interest you, scan the right side of the page for “Today’s Side Deal” to see what else is available.
As for today’s deals, here’s what Groupon has to offer:
- You can buy a Groupon good for two hours of unlimited bowling (includes shoe rental) at Brunswick Zone for $10. The deal is valid at the Marietta, Norcross, Lawrenceville, and Roswell Brunswick Zone locations as well as U.S. Play in Kennesaw. Here’s where it gets a bit confusing: If you choose to buy three Groupons and you redeem them on the same day, you can bring three more people along for free. So, $30 buys three people and three of their friends unlimited bowling for two hours. At $5 each, that’s a fairly good deal. And there doesn’t appear to be anything that limits you from using it during Cosmic Bowling hours. The offer expires at midnight tonight (Dec. 28).
- You’ve got a couple of days to take advantage of today’s side deal: $20 buys you a $50 certificate for The Lucky Exchange. It’s a resale shop with locations in Midtown and East Atlanta, and the Groupon is good for men’s & women’s apparel and accessories.

FYI–I’ve linked you to Groupon via my kick-back page. Translation: If you buy a Groupon within 72 hours of clicking on the link, and it’s the first time you’ve bought a Groupon, I’ll receive a small credit toward a future Groupon. I tell you this because a) My site’s rules require it. and b) The FTC requires it of bloggers, though I think my site is technically exempt. If you’re going to buy your first Groupon ever & feel like sending a little love my way, use the link. Otherwise, just go to Groupon.com. Thanks!
