Atlanta On The Cheap’s & Field Trips with Sue’s First Mixer Ever Was…

Posted By admin on December 4, 2009

…tons of fun. Seriously, I haven’t laughed that much in a long time. Thank you to all who braved the cold & came out to Pizzeria Venti for the holiday mixer I co-hosted with Field Trips with Sue.

I loved having a chance to put a face to a name with those of you I “know” through this site & Twitter, to meet quite a few lurkers, & to hear how much this site means to you. It makes it all worthwhile.

A few (though definitely not all) of my highlights (click here to see pics on Field Trips with Sue’s Facebook page): Meeting Beatrix, a 6-year-old who is building a Lego city (complete with mechanical Ferris wheel) & wants to be an Egyptologist when she grows up. Chatting with Park & Katie Cofield—if you met Katie, you’ll be able to say, “I knew her when…” when she makes it big in Hollywood (and she will). Finding my food soul mate, Roxanne—we can tell you everything you need to know about how to eat right, but my spinach salad will be topped with bacon. Yum. Oh, and gelato is good for you because it’s made with milk & fresh fruit. Right? Yep. Soul mates.

The food was fabulous, too. If you haven’t been yet, stop by Pizzeria Venti on Dec. 5 & take advantage of their free pizza deal. They’re giving everyone a free one-topping slice to celebrate their first anniversary. I can vouch for the yumminess of the pizza—I had a slice of onion & feta topped with spinach & tomatoes. It’s good both straight out of the oven & cold (as I discovered when I got caught up in conversation & forgot to eat). And the gelato is tasty, too. I got the peppermint patty flavor (‘tis the season for minty treats), and sampled a few others. The pumpkin spice was actually quite good (and I’m not typically a fan of pumpkin).

We gave away a bunch of prizes, too: a Simon Malls gift card; free visit coupons for Sensations TheraFun; tickets to the Braves Museum and Hall of Fame, the Georgia Ballet’s Nutcracker, & the Museum of Patriotism; and a grab bag of goodies courtesy of RedPlum.com & Sea to Summit. And we had a last-minute addition thanks to Al—passes to the Uptown Comedy Corner.

There were gift bags stuffed with discounts & goodies from HalfOffDepot.com, Theatrical Outfit, the Atlanta Braves, Feld Entertainment (Ringling Bros.), Centennial Olympic Park, Pizzeria Venti, and Vikki with Thomas & Silva Salon. If you missed out, you’ll still be able to get a treat or two—I’ll be writing up posts sharing a few of the discounts over the next few days.

So. That’s my long-winded way of saying, “Thanks!” Wishing you a merry & blessed holiday season.
