Neil Gaiman Speaking & Signing Books at Agnes Scott College on Dec. 14
Posted By admin on November 28, 2009
Little Shop of Stories in Decatur is one of my favorite book stores. How could it not be? Its staff manages to persuade some of my kids’ (and my) favorite authors to come to the area. At the Decatur Book Festival, those authors included Kate DiCamillo (Because of Winn Dixie & Tale of Despereaux), Jon Scieszka (The Stinky Cheese Man & the Time Warp Trio series), & Judy Schachner (Skippyjon Jones). And now they’ve snagged Neil Gaiman, known for many amazing works, including Coraline.
Want to meet Neil Gaiman? You can, but it’ll be a bit tricky. It’s free, but it’s a ticketed event—getting one is the tricky part. You’ll find all of the details on Little Shop of Stories’ blog, but here are the basics:
1) On Monday, November 30, you can pick up free tickets in person at Little Shop of Stories (133 A East Court Square). There’s a limit of one ticket per person, so if you’re planning to bring everyone in your family to the event, you’ll need to bring them with you to the store. Or you can try & convince random people to walk in with you once you get there.
2) On Monday, December 7, a minimum of 100 tickets will be made available through either telephone reservations (404-373-6300) or in-person request. Do not simply leave a message—if you do not talk to an actual person, your RSVP does not count.
3) They’ll continue giving out tickets until they’re gone, but it’s Neil Gaiman, so they will disappear.
4) There’s no reserved seating at the December 14 event, so if proximity matters to you, get there early for a good seat. Doors open at 5:00 p.m., and the reading starts at 6:00 p.m.
5) After Gaiman’s presentation, he’ll stay & sign books. There’s a limit of one signed & personalized book per person. Really need him to sign two? Buy a copy at Little Shop of Stories. If you bring your receipt, he’ll sign & personalize both. Little Shop of Stories will be selling copies at Presser Hall before & after the event, too, so you can buy a copy there, if necessary.
Agnes Scott College’s Presser Hall is located on South McDonough Street, just south of East College Avenue, in Decatur.
