Free In-Store Concerts at Criminal Records (sometimes that means free food & beer, too)
Posted By ATLCheap on November 16, 2009
So which part got your attention, the free concerts or the free food & beer? Assuming it’s the free live music:
No musician likes to perform cold. Well, maybe there’s one or two who do, but most don’t. To warm up before a concert at a local venue, some artists stop by places like Criminal Records to perform a few songs & meet and greet fans.
Criminal Records often hosts free in-store events–listening parties, band meet & greets, & performances. Upcoming in-store appearances & listening parties include Them Crooked Vultures & The xx on Nov. 17, Heavy Trash on Nov. 19, Camera Obscura and Cage The Elephant on Nov. 20, and Patterson Hood and Duet for Theremin & Lap Steel on Nov. 21.
If the free beer & free food caught your eye, here are a few in-store appearances to head out for:
- There’ll be free Aurora Coffee + free cookies & doughnuts from Duck’s Cosmic Kitchen at the Them Crooked Vultures listening party on Nov. 17 at 6:30 p.m. Alas, TCV will not be there.
- At the in-store Heavy Trash event, there’ll be free PBR and free home-baked goodies courtesy of Jennifer—a huge Jon Spencer fan, per Lillian at Criminal Records.
- And there’ll be free beer at the Cage The Elephant appearance on Nov. 20 at 7:00 p.m. The beer’s courtesy of Magic Hat Brewery.
Criminal Records is located at 1154-A Euclid Ave. NE, Atlanta. 404-215-9511.

Them Crooked Vultures are not actually appearing at Criminal Records tomorrow. It’s just a listening party for the album, which releases that day. You about gave me a heart attack.
Will fix this post ASAP when I get to a computer. I misread something…
Fixed. Whew…it’s been one of those days. Sorry about that.
We’ll be serving up Aurora Coffee along with cookies and doughnuts from Duck’s Cosmic Kitchen for Tuesday’s Them Crooked Vultures listening party.
And this wasn’t confirmed before yesterday, but we thought you’d like to know that on Thursday there will also be free beer (courtesy of PBR) and home-baked treats from one of our customers, Jennifer, who is a huge Jon Spencer fan and who wanted to do something special for the Heavy Trash in-store. ^_^
Thanks, Lillian!
