Chomp & Stomp Chili Cookoff & Festival in Cabbagetown on Nov. 7
Posted By admin on November 6, 2009
I’ve never been to the Chomp & Stomp Chili Cookoff & Festival in Cabbagetown, but it sounds like fun. From 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. on Nov. 7, the community will gather in Cabbagetown Park to sample chili & listen to some old-time mountain music.
If you’re planning to sample the chili, plan to get there early. As the festival’s organizers note, “it’s a contest, not a soup kitchen.”
One change from last year: No dogs are allowed.
Update: The music & festival are free, but Rich just posted a comment noting that there was a charge for a chili-tastin’ spoon last year. I don’t see anything on their website, but bring a couple of bucks, just in case. Per Travis–This year’s chili tasting is $5. Check the comments for more details.
Cabbagetown Park is located at the corner of Tye St. & Kirkwood Ave. in Atlanta.

I think last year they charged for a chili spoon to sample the chili. Can’t remember how much, maybe $2?
Chili tasting is $5 and begins at noon. 5k run starts tomorrow morning at 8am: $30 includes chili tasting and Romp and Stomp 5k t-shirt. Event is in support of Cabbagetown Park and Cabbagetown Neighborhood Association. Restaurants will likely have plenty of chili, however if you’re looking to indulge in your neighbors chili it will likely run out around 3 or so. No parking allowed @ Agave. Please try to Car pool or take public transportation. Parking available at El Toro (formerly redfish), Fulton Cotton Mill Lofts (enter via Carroll Street), and Colgate Mattress off of Pearl and Memorial. No dogs allowed this year (city of atlanta police) no outside food or drink. Vendors will be available. The following restaurants are participating:

Matador Mexican Cantina
Grindhouse Killer Burgers
Corner Tavern (3 entries!)
Metrofresh Deli (2 entries!)
