Looking for reason to break in your black-tie attire? Thanks to a deal I found on the Woodruff Arts Center’s Twitter feed, you can: Ticket prices have been reduced for “A Musical Tribute to the Immortal Otis Redding” tonight, Nov. 5, at Atlanta Symphony Hall. The performance starts at 8:00 p.m., and it features special guests, including Anthony Hamilton, Musiq Soulchild, Estelle, Avant, Karina Pasian, Kenny Lattimore, Chante Moore, William Bell, & Eddie Floyd, to name a few.
Ticket are now $50 for front & rear balcony seats & $85 for dress circle, loge, and rear orchestra seats. It’s still steep, yes, but proceeds benefit The Big “O” Youth Educational Dream Foundation, which works to encourage youths to stay in school & achieve their dreams. I love this quote from Zelma Redding about Otis’ motivation for starting the foundation: “[Otis] would tell me, ‘If it takes music to get the attention of these young people, then let’s educate them through music.’”
