Get Your Spook On: L5P Halloween Festival & Parade, October 16 & 17
Posted By admin on October 15, 2009
Looking for something a bit tamer than Netherworld to get you into the Halloween spirit? If so, head to L5P this weekend for the Little Five Points Halloween Festival & Parade.
The festivities kick off on Friday, October 16, with entertainment from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at Euclid & Colquitt (bring a chair). Professor Morte’s Silver Scream Spook Show will be there, and a few of the Spook Show Mon-Stars will perform your favorite punk rock songs. Plus, there’ll be a classic horror movie screening at 8:00 p.m.
On Saturday, October 17, the free spook-fest continues from noon to 10:00 p.m. with concerts, street performers, a costume contest for kids of all ages, and more. Findly Plaza’s home to the festival’s more eclectic entertainment, so if you’re looking for kid-friendly frights, stick with the children’s activities at Davis Plaza from noon to 5:00 p.m.
And of course, don’t miss the highlight of the festival: The Halloween Parade. The parade starts at 4:00 p.m. on Euclid Avenue near the corner of Washita Avenue, takes a right on Moreland Avenue, loops around and ends up at Druid Place (click here for a map). With ghosts, goblins, and skeletons galore, you’ll have a ghoulishly good time.
