I saw The Color Purple last time around, and I loved it. It’s everything a musical should be. I checked, & Stu James reprising his role as Harpo. This is good news for two reasons: 1) He’s fabulous. 2) He sings two of my favorite songs in the production: “Brown Betty” and “Any Little Thing,” a hilarious duet with Sofia. 

This time, Fantasia’s playing Celie, and while I’ve never been an AI fan, I know enough about her to know that she should do an awesome job.

Don’t forget to take advantage of the best ticket deal I’ve found for the show: You can buy $39.50 tickets to select performances of The Color Purple. To get the discount, you’ll need to buy your tickets in person at Publix Ticketmaster outlets. The deal is valid for the following performances:

• Tuesday, September 15, at 8:00 p.m.
• Wednesday, September 16, at 8:00 p.m.
• Sunday, September 20, at 1:30 p.m.

If you’ve never seen a performance of The Color Purple, it’s worth going, and even if you have been, it’s worth seeing again. FYI—If you’re going to see Fantasia, skip the Sunday matinee; she does not perform during that show.
