First Annual Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival at Turner Field on September 12

Posted By admin on September 11, 2009

This deal calls for a link to the BBQ song on YouTube. I think it’s hilarious. It ranks right up there with PeopleOfWalmart.com on the list of things that crack me up. But I digress…

If you love BBQ, you’ll want to be at Turner Field on Saturday, September 12. From 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m., the first annual Atlanta Bar-B-Q Festival will take over the Green lot. Admission’s free to the festival area, but parking’s $10. There’ll be a baseball clinic, and Otis Nixon will be there signing his new book, The Catch. While you’re scoping out the cooking techniques during the BBQ competition, you can listen to live gospel, Motown, blues, & southern rock music or take the kids to the kids’ play area to burn off some energy. Plus, tours of Turner Field are half-price during the event.

Turner Field is located at 755 Hank Aaron Dr. SE, Atlanta. 404-909-3942

What a disappointment. It’s like the vendors were there for their chance to compete, not to provide or sell samples of their food to the many hundreds of people that were there. We just got in the way. I got there around 2:30 and there must have been 20-40 different vendors but only 4-5 that were selling/giving samples to the folks that came out. The result – long lines that never seemed to move. One poor lady waited an hour and then was disappointed with the food she got. I couldn’t tell if they were selling or giving food away. All I knew was nothing could taste that good for me to wait that long to only get a tiny morsel of something. I hope they get their act together next year.

Ditto! The drifting was cool though.
