Richmond Hill Inn in Asheville: Book 2 Nights & Get the 3rd Free through August 30
Posted By admin on July 17, 2009
My husband and I stayed at The Richmond Hill Inn in Asheville to celebrate our anniversary a year or two ago. It’s not cheap, but the B&B is gorgeous (especially the grounds), and I’d stay there again in a second.
Looking for a romantic getaway (or just a quiet place to get away)? You can save a bit by taking advantage of their summer special: Through August 30, 2009, if you book two nights, you’ll get a night free.
Want to stretch your dollar even further? Book your trip around one of Asheville’s street festivals & craft fairs.
- Through July 19, the Craft Fair of the Southern Highlands is at the Civic Center.
- Through July 29, the Folk Moot festival is taking place, and it includes traditional performances from nearly a dozen countries. Per the schedule, most events cost a bit, but there are a few family nights, which are cheaper. And on July 25, there’s a free International Festival Day on Main Street in Waynesville.
- From July 24-26, the Bele Cher festival takes over downtown Asheville. It’s one of the largest street festivals in the southeast.
If I were booking a last-minute getaway, I’d head up that way for the Bele Cher festival & take time to check out the Folk Moot festival, too. Oh, and I’d check in with Marla over a Western N.C. on the Cheap to find other free & cheap things to do in Asheville.
FWIW, we went to Asheville when there wasn’t a festival going on, and we had a fabulous time. We went on a free art walk to check out the galleries (and brought home an awesome mosaic tile set) & checked out the local craft fair/market, to name a few. You’ll stay busy. Or you can relax. It’s up to you.

The craft fair was small last weekend, but the material is high quality. Note that Asheville is full of art and craft galleries.
BTW, Asheville tends to be 10 degrees cooler, too… And I’d recommend also checking the Crooked Oak Mountain Inn. The breakfast is incredible.
And two hours north-ish of Asheville is Bristol, which will be holding its Rhythm and Roots Reunion in September. A bit NE of there is Abingdon, with its Virginia Highlands festival running July 25 – August 9. See, got back around to Atlanta eventually…
