The Margaret Mitchell House is debuting new exhibitions about Margaret Mitchell’s life and “Gone with the Wind,” the movie, this weekend. To celebrate, they’re offering free admission on July 4th & 5th.

Here are just a few of the activities planned for the celebration:

• Help make hand-cranked ice cream on the Margaret Mitchell House Porch
• Meet Ira Joe Johnson, author of “Benjamin E. Mays and Margaret Mitchell: A Unique Legacy in Medicine,” in the parlor on Sunday
• In the parlor on Saturday, you’ll find Cathy Kaemmerlen portraying Peggy Mitchell as a reporter for the Atlanta Journal
• Learn to dance The Charleston or test your endurance during a marathon dancing session in the Commercial Row Building
• Compete in a Gone with the Wind trivia contest in the Commercial Row Building
• Play a game of croquet or compete in a sack race on the lower lawn.
• Take a guided tour of Margaret Mitchell’s apartment and see the new exhibitions: Margaret Mitchell: A Passion for Character and The Making of a Film Legend: Gone with the Wind.
