Culture on the Cheap: Free Yukiko Shimo Exhibition at the Roswell Teahouse
Posted By admin on January 5, 2009
In her first solo exhibition outside of Japan, Yukiko Shmio’s whimsical woodblock prints are on display at Roswell Teahouse through January 31. Representing the past 12 years of her work, the exhibition features more than 40 of Shimo’s prints, made using hand-carved wooden blocks and handmade paper. Shimo draws inspiration from the stories she reads in the creation of her striking black-and-white woodblock prints, offering her creative take on everything from Alice in Wonderland to Terada Torahiko’s cat.
Roswell Teahouse is open on Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Through the end of the exhibition, take advantage of special teahouse and gallery hours on Fridays and Saturdays from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Roswell Teahouse is located at 108 Magnolia Street, Roswell.
