The Lighting of Macy’s Great Tree
Posted By admin on November 25, 2008
For a free & festive way to get into the holiday spirit, swing by Lenox Square for the 61st Lighting of Macy’s Great Tree on Thanksgiving. Since you’ll be joining 100,000 of your closest friends to watch the lighting of the 70-foot Georgia white pine tree, skip the traffic & take MARTA to Lenox Square.
Get there early to see the preshow, which begins at 6:15 p.m. in the Phipps Plaza & Lenox Square parking lots and features performances by Cirque du Soleil, The Regulars Band, and Michael Warren. At 7:00 p.m., the main show kicks off with performances by Jewel, Heather Headley, and Harmony: Atlanta’s International Youth Chorus. The evening ends with a bang with a spectacular fireworks finale and a visit from the jolly old elf himself.
Heading back Lenox the next day to take advantage of Black Friday sales? Indulge in another Atlanta holiday tradition: Taking a ride on Priscilla, the Pink Pig. Located on Macy’s upper-level parking deck, tickets are $3 for one ride, $5.50 for two rides, or $7.50 for three rides. Come back during the week to save even more. With the 2-for-1 coupon, valid Monday-Thursday through January 1 (excluding Nov. 24-27 & Dec. 22-25), one ride becomes two, two rides become four, and three rides become six. The only catch is that multi-ride tickets are valid for one person only & cannot be shared.
Lenox Square Mall is located at 3393 Peachtree Road NE, Atlanta.
