Welcome to Atlanta on the Cheap. Each day, I’ll post ways for you to do more for less in the city. Sometimes I’ll tip you off to Atlanta’s everyday freebies. Other days, I’ll highlight awesome deals on everything from theater tickets to dinner out. Either way, you–and your budget–will thank me.

On Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17, residents of Atlanta and Fulton County can get into Zoo Atlanta for free. That’s right, free. All you need to bring is proof of residency (a driver’s license will suffice). Don’t live downtown? No problem. Your City of Atlanta or Fulton County Government employee identification cards will get you in, too. While you’re there, you may even glimpse the zoo’s newest additions: the African lioness’ three adorable cubs.
